Illinois State University and the College of Applied Science and Technology: Illinois State University, founded in 1857, is the oldest public university in Illinois. There are approximately 20,700 students in the six colleges of Illinois State University. Currently, the University offers 72 undergraduate programs, 42 master’s programs, 10 doctoral programs, a Specialist in School Psychology, and 8 graduate level certificates.
