Company History
Ransom Memorial Hospital had its beginnings on February 5, 1929 when the Community was stirred to action by an announcement from Mr. And Mrs. A.L. Cook that would give $50,000 toward a new hospital with the agreement that the communit would match the donation. Mr. And Mrs. Cook also donated 7.75 acres and requested that the building be named Ransom Memorial Hospital to perpetuate the memory of James Harvey (Cap) Ransom, a widely admired and respected pioneer Ottawan, contractor and civic builder. Franklin County citizens raised almost $75,000 for the match. Ransom Memorial Hospital opened its doors, fully staffed with eleven employees. Since that day Ransom Memorial Hospital has been a place of healing and progress. This caring and high-level medical skill is still evident today in our physicians, nurses, Staff and volunteers. We take great pride in being among the USA’S Top 100 Hospitals.
