Southern Arkansas University Muleriders, competes in the NCAA DII, Great American Conference in Football, Volleyball, Men’s & Women’s Basketball, Baseball, Softball, Men’s & Women’s Cross Country, Men’s and Women’s Track, Men’s & Women’s Golf and Men's and Women's Tennis.
Located in Magnolia, AR, SAU is a small regional University of a little over 4000 students. We are the fastest growing university in Arkansas and have grown 23 % over the past 4 years. Our Athletic Training Department has a staff of 7 Athletic Trainers, 4 Staff ATs and 3 Graduate Assistants. We have a CAATE accredited AT program that will be moving to a Graduate program in the next 3 years.
Company History
The Athletic Training Department was started in the late 70's and has had 3 Head Athletic Trainers. The current Head Athletic Trainer joined the department in January 1989. Educationally the athletic training program started as an internship in the early 80's and became accredited in 2003. We now have 3 full time ATs, 3 graduate assistants, a ATP Director and 21 AT students. In 2017 our graduating seniors (6) all passed their BOC exam the first attempt. The future looks good as we are working toward moving to the Masters program as well as adding another full time faculty.
