Company History
Athletic training at Iowa began at the turn of the last century in the early 1900's. Early organization for association that preceded the NATA was headed by athletic trainers at the University of Iowa. In 1974 we began our undergraduate approved and now accredited program and has become one of about 12 programs with the longest history of educating students in the US. Our latest history has been guided by Sports Medicine Director Ned Amendola and our athletic training director Terry Noonan. We have four main athletic training facilities with a new addition opening in October. Several ancillary facilities house athletic training staff for limited services during the day. A modern Sports Medicine Center with a sports rehabilitation unit, family practice clinic, pediatric clinic, and orthopaedic clinic, MRI, and prosthetic unit. Recently the clinic acquired Ultrasonagraphy expertise. With a close working relationship between atheltic training, medicine, physical therapy, strength and conditioning, counseling, and nutritional services, the University of Iowa is a place to grow.
