The University of Idaho is home to an innovative, fully accredited professional Master of Science in Athletic Training (MSAT) program. The MSAT program houses a progressive and innovative approach to AT education that is hallmarked by:
- Eight years of success at the graduate level after 25+ years of successful AT education at the bachelor level
- Ten years of continuing accreditation by the CAATE granted in 2018
- A “self-support” funding model that provides unique autonomy to programmatic structure and curriculum delivery
- Clinical education immersion model that allows students to participate in patient care alongside expert clinicians serving as preceptors around the country (150+ clinical sites).
- Access to unique and state-of-the-art facilities in the Department of Movement Science Exercise Physiology lab, Integrated Sports Medicine Movement Analysis Laboratory (ISMMAL), and WWAMI Medical Education Program instructional spaces.
- Large AT faculty/staff system of 4 full-time faculty members in the MSAT alone. An additional 5 affiliate faculty are housed within the DAT and WWAMI Medical Education Programs as well as three Post-Doctoral Fellows and Teaching Assistants.
Collaborations across both programs as well as the WWAMI Medical Education Program set the stage for shaping the future of AT education and patient care.
