Assistant Athletic Trainer

The University seeks a Full-time, 9.5 month, Assistant Athletic Trainer for its Athletic Department on the Mount
Vernon main campus. The position reports to the Head Athletic Trainer and is available immediately, upon
appointment of a successful candidate. The candidate will be able to contribute to the retirement plan.
Responsibilities for this position include:
Emergency care of injuries/wounds
Refer physical and mental injuries pertaining to athletes, i.e., physicals, x-rays, MRI’s, operations, etc.
Refer ill student-athletes to Student Health Services
Cover practices and games
Follow up and keep documentation of all injuries, treatments, surgeries, and rehabilitation
Take care of equipment and Athletic Training Clinic areas; clean/maintain them as necessary
Communicate with doctors, coaches, and athletes
Assist with inventory and ordering of supplies
Other responsibilities pertaining to athletic training as assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer or Director
of Athletics

Requirements
Expectations for the successful candidate:
Evangelical Christian statement of faith, experience, and mission fit
Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training from a CAATE-approved institution required, Master’s degree
preferred.
2-5 years of college/university experience preferred.
BLS HealthCare Provider CPR/AED Certification (Instructor’s certification preferred) through either the
American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
National Certification for the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification and Ohio
State Licensure for Ohio Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Athletic Trainers’ Board
Approaches every assignment and responsibility from a Christian perspective, exhibiting ethics,
integrity and professionalism in all dealings
Basic knowledge of student development theories, spiritual formation, and student development in
Christian higher education
Experience in management, administration, and organizational leadership. Experience working with a
budget
Working understanding of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Clear and concise interpersonal communication. Must be comfortable in small and large group settings,
along with communicating with students.
Spirit of hospitality and inclusivity
Ability to confidentially handle personal health information, sensitive inquiries, and contacts with
institutional leadership as well as students
Must be capable of sitting, walking, or standing for long periods of time, frequent use of stairs, and the ability to
lift 100 pounds
Experience with Athletic Training EMR, especially Sportsware Online (SWOL), preferred.
