Position Summary:
The Assistant Athletic Trainer is responsible for assisting the supervision and coordination of Rogers State University’s overall sports medicine program; to include: injury prevention, evaluation, management and treatment of athletic injuries, short and long term rehabilitation of athletic injuries, education, and counseling of student-athletes. The Assistant Athletic Trainer is responsible for assisting in athletic-related health care administration in consultation with and under the supervision of the team physician and other qualified medical personnel. The Assistant Athletic Trainer is required to abide by the rules and regulations established by Rogers State University, NCAA, MIAA Conference, the Oklahoma State Board of Medical Licensure, and the National Athletic Trainers’ Association.
Essentials Responsibilities:
- Provide athletic training services for the athletic department as directed by the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine and Team Physician, including attendance at scheduled team practices, home and away competitions.
- Determine (with Team Physician and Head Athletic Trainer’s consultation) student-athlete’s ability to practice and/or compete.
- Report status of injured student-athletes to Head Athletic Trainer and coaching staff.
- Assist the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine with compilation, input, organization, and maintenance of medical records for student-athletes.
- Assist the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine with inventory, bidding, ordering, receiving, and maintenance of all athletic training room supplies and equipment.
- Enforce code of conduct and rules for athletic training facilities and equipment.
- Follow emergency action plan for athletic teams in conjunction with the Team Physician, area emergency medical services, and local hospitals.
- Assist scheduling and administration of student athlete’s physical examinations.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s in athletic training or related field is required.
- NATABOC Certification is required.
- Licensed by the Oklahoma State Board of Medical Licensure (or eligible for a temporary license during application period) is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience working in an intercollegiate setting.
Organization Relationships:
- Reports to the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine and will be licensed under the Team Physician and is a member of the Rogers State University Athletic Department.
Reports to:
- Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine/Head Athletic Trainer
Supervision Given to:
- Athletic Training Student Aides/ Student Workers and student-athletes.
Hours:
- Regular office hours as determined by sports/team schedules and the Head Athletic Trainer.
- Additional hours on nights, weekends, and holidays are required seasonally as dictated by the competition schedule.
- Overnight travel is also required.
