Description
Missouri State University’s Athletic Medical and Rehabilitation Department (AMR) proudly offers internship positions for certified athletic trainers designed to enhance your clinical skills and gain valuable experience in athletic rehabilitation, injury prevention, performance enhancement as well as administrative areas. Currently, Missouri State has a position available for football and swimming coverage.
Staff members in these positions work under the protocol of the MSU Head Team Physician, under the supervision of the Director of AMR, and although overseen by a full-time staff member, benefit from the level of autonomy necessary to ensure the quality experience you would want to have to progress to the next level of your career.
Salary is $20.00 /hour for up to 1560 hours each year for a potential total of $31,200 per year. Additional monies are available through working summer sport camps. In addition to salary, MSU pays state licensure fees, NATA/State dues, professional liability insurance (if desired), as well as financial assistance with CEU opportunities.
Requirements
Credentials: Must be certified by the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) Board of Certification (BOC) and licensed by the State of Missouri Board of Healing Arts, prior to the start date. Must maintain current CPR/AED certification.
Skills: Strong oral and written communication skills, as well as excellent interpersonal skills are required.
Effort: Requires the capability to physically transport injured athletes (e.g., to the locker room, sidelines, clinic, ambulance), in order to receive further medical care.
Other: The scope of this position requires frequent evening and weekend/holiday work as well as frequent overnight, out-of-town travel to accommodate the schedule required of an intercollegiate team.
Acceptable candidates must:
- Be willing to commit to the day-to-day duties, practice and event coverage that is necessary for proper student-athlete healthcare.
- Be willing to travel.
- Meet the terms of employment as set by the MSU Department of Human Resources
- Exhibit good communicative and administrative skills.
- Exhibit the ability and desire to both enhance and share current knowledge with interaction through current staff members.
