Description
Bluefield University invites applications for the full-time position of Athletic Trainer. Bluefield University Athletics is a member of the Appalachian Athletic Conference of the NAIA. The University supports fourteen men’s and women’s varsity athletic teams.
Responsibilities include supervision of care for student-athletes competing in Bluefield University's athletic programs through prevention, evaluation, management, treatment, and rehabilitation. Recording and maintaining appropriate student medical records, appropriately communicating with administrators, coaches, support staff, team physicians, and other medical personnel. Some supervision of student athletic trainers may be required, and other duties as assigned. This is a full-time, ten-month position. Some night and weekend coverage, as well as some travel, is required of the position. The specific sports assignment(s) will vary and will be determined by the Director of Sports Medicine. We are open to requests of specific sport assignments. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. Salary is negotiable.
Start Date: July 20th, 2026 (this is flexible if needed)

Requirements
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred; one of the degrees must be from a CAATE accredited athletic training program; BOC Certified and in good standing; Virginia Licensure required or eligible (must be licensed by start date); West Virginia Licensure required or eligible (must be licensed by start date); experience working in collegiate athletics preferred but not required; NPI Number required; and CPR and AED certification is required on a professional level.
Required Skills: Applicants must have the ability to provide acute and emergency care, create and implement therapeutic interventions, and the ability to provide patient centered care. Applicants should have experience with injury tracking software, concussion management protocol, ImPACT testing, SCAT testing, and common equipment found in a modern day athletic training facility. Applicants should also have the ability to work as part of a team centered environment.
