Description
Purpose of Position and Scope of Responsibility: Staff Athletic Trainer works under the supervision of the Sports Medicine Director and supervises the care of student athletes competing in the University’s athletic programs. Our athletic trainers are responsible for the prevention, evaluation, management and rehabilitation of injuries within the University’s comprehensive sports medicine program. A Staff Athletic Trainer will follow all Federal, State, NATA, BOC, and NAIA laws, rules, regulations and ethical standards that apply.
Under the direct supervision of Sport Medicine Director
Exempt Employee
Principal Accountabilities/Responsibilities:
Prevention of athletic injuries and illnesses
Evaluation of athletic injuries
Treatment/Rehabilitation of athletic injuries.
Providing counseling and education to student athletes.
Athletic training administrative duties.
Assist with coordination and scheduling of medical coverage for home and away competitions as assigned by the Sports Medicine Director
Supervision, education and recruitment of student and graduate assistant athletic trainers.
Recordkeeping and documentation.
Work with doctors and other allied health professionals to deliver care to student athletes
Keep their schedule of coverage and availability on the Sports Medicine Calendar
Submitting/filing accurate insurance claims within 24 hours of incident
Referral and set up injured athletes to the appropriate provider
Submitting coaches’ injury reports on a daily basis
Work with team doctors and other allied health professionals to deliver care to student athletes
Other duties as assigned by the Sports Medicine Director

Requirements
Work requires the physical demands of standing, bending, lifting, stooping or performing other work requiring light physical exertion (up to 30 pounds) on an occasional basis (up to 15% of time) and frequent walking; or moderate physical exertion (up to 50 pounds) on an intermittent basis (not a routine part of the job).
Minimum Qualifications:
Knowledge/Education: Bachelor’s Degree
Experience: 1-3 Years experience in collegiate athletics
Licensure, Registration, Certification: Certified by the National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification, Tennessee Licensure, AHA or ARC CPR Certification
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge/Education: Master’s Degree
Experience: 3-5 Years experience in collegiate athletics
Licensure, Registration, Certification: Certified by the National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification, Tennessee Licensure, AHA or ARC CPR Certification
