Concordia University Wisconsin seeks applicants for the full-time, exempt position of Certified Athletic Trainer. This position is an 11-month appointment and is responsible for athletic training services at Concordia University in Mequon, WI. The Certified Athletic Trainer will be a member of the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. This individual is directly responsible to the Director of Sports Medicine, and will also be under the direct supervision of the consulting physician in the area of direct medical care. The Athletic Training Department is under the direction of the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics. The weight load will be 100% athletics coverage and clinical supervision.
The anticipated start date is ASAP. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until successful candidate(s) are identified.
Responsibilities
- Provide appropriate care, prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries and illnesses to all patients. Serve as the primary Licensed Athletic Trainer for certain teams, as assigned by the Director of Sports Medicine
- Assist with the management, organization, coordination, and supervision of the Athletic Training Room operations and the Athletic Training Department
- Serve as a Preceptor and supervise Athletic Training Students during their clinical rotations
- Work cooperatively with the consulting physician and each coach in creating and implementing programs to meet the needs of Concordia's intercollegiate athletes
- Conduct himself/herself in a professional manner at all times
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Knowledge of the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) accreditation requirements is preferred
- Excellent organizational abilities and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and maintain a schedule
- Knowledge and skill in the use of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel, Access and Word; and academic software
- Supportive of the mission and values of Concordia University Wisconsin/Ann Arbor and the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS)
Education and Experience
- A bachelor's degree in a related field is required; a master's degree is preferred
- Minimum of two years of experience as a practicing BOC Certified Athletic Trainer preferred
- Must have certification through the BOC and be eligible for Wisconsin licensure
- Prior supervision of Athletic Training Students preferred
- Available days, evenings, and weekends; including extensive travel with teams and occasional overnight travel

The physical demands described herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
