Sentara Healthcare is seeking applicants for TWO Athletic Trainers to join our team at Williamsburg James City County (WJCC) Middle Schools. These positions will act as the sole athletic trainer at one middle school with athletes from 6th-8th grades. Offering position as 12-month employment with school coverage and 10-15 hours of morning clinic responsibility. This arrangement qualifies for full medical benefits. 

Sport Coverages:

• WJCC Middle Schools offer 8 different sports (9 teams) across 3 seasons to include: Football , Cheerleading, Field Hockey, and Girls' Volleyball in the fall; Boys' and Girls' Basketball in the winter; and Baseball, Cross Country, and Softball in the spring.
• Works under supervision of the Director of Athletics at respective Middle School and Sentara Supervisor.
• Responsible for the prevention, management, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries under the direction of the Team Physician.
• Serve as a liaison between coaches, student-athletes, physicians, and parents.
• Charts and keeps electronic record of student athlete injuries, utilizing current record keeping systems and protocols using EMR.
• Responsible for the day-to-day operation of the athletic training room.
• Other duties as assigned by the Head Athletic Director

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree
• CPR/AED Certified
• Certified by the Board of Certification (or eligible for certification)
• Current Virginia Athletic Trainer Licensure or eligible to apply for Virginia licensure
• Must have effective communication and interpersonal skills
• Physical effort required for practice/game preparation and positioning athlete’s body during emergency care management and rehabilitation
