Description
Christendom College, located in Front Royal, Virginia, and a member of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) and National Collegiate Rugby (NCR), is seeking a qualified and dedicated Assistant Athletic Trainer (ATC) to support the health, safety, and performance of its student-athletes.
The Assistant Athletic Trainer will work with our Sports Doc to provide comprehensive athletic training services for Christendom’s 11 varsity athletic programs, working closely with the Director of Athletics, Assistant Athletic Director, coaches, team managers, and student-athletes to ensure a safe and effective athletic environment.
The position is expected to begin early August and continue through the completion of the athletic year in late April/early May. Fall Break weekend, time off before and after Christmas, New Year’s, Spring Break, Easter, and additional scheduled days off will be provided throughout the year.
Requirements
Primary Responsibilities
Athletic Training & Student-Athlete Care
Provide athletic training coverage and support for Christendom’s varsity athletic programs.
Assist with injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, and return-to-play processes.
Provide taping, wrapping, and other pre-practice/game preparation services for student-athletes.
Support student-athlete health and wellness needs throughout the competitive season.
Medical Operations & Inventory Management
Assist with maintaining, organizing, and reordering athletic training supplies and medical equipment through MedCo.
Work with team managers to ensure team medical kits remain fully stocked and prepared.
Assist with concussion testing and protocol management in partnership with Impact Concussion.
Team & Event Coverage
Provide athletic training coverage for all 11 varsity programs, including:
Fall Sports: Men’s & Women’s Cross Country, Men’s & Women’s Soccer, Men’s Rugby 15s, Women’s Volleyball
Winter Sports: Men’s & Women’s Basketball
Spring Sports: Softball, Baseball, Men’s Rugby 7s
Provide coverage for the majority of home athletic contests and events.
Coordinate with coaches and athletic department staff to ensure appropriate medical coverage and communication.
Communication & Department Collaboration
Maintain clear communication with the Director of Athletics, Assistant Athletic Director, Sports Doc, coaches, and student-athletes regarding injuries, treatment plans, and athletic training needs.
Assist in creating a safe, organized, and supportive environment for all Christendom student-athletes.
Schedule Expectations
Athletic Trainer coverage will primarily occur Monday–Saturday throughout the academic year.
Non-game days: Approximately 3–4 hours per day (typically afternoons/evenings).
Home game days: Approximately 7–8+ hours depending on event schedules.
The Athletic Trainer position will run approximately from late July/early August through the end of April/early May.
Compensation
This position may be structured as a contracted position or hourly position depending on candidate preference and availability.
