OVERVIEW: Under the general supervision of the Director of Athletics, the Head Athletic Trainer provides strategic leadership and oversight of the University's Athletic Training Department. The Head Athletic Trainer is responsible for the administration, supervision, and delivery of comprehensive athletic health care services for all intercollegiate athletic programs. This position oversees the Athletic Training staff and student workers; develops departmental policies, procedures, and budgets; ensures compliance with applicable federal and state laws, National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) requirements, National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA) standards, Board of Certification (BOC) standards of professional practice, and Florida licensure requirements; and collaborates with physicians, coaches, and University leadership to promote the health, safety, and well-being of student-athletes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Leadership and Administration
Provide leadership, direction, and management of the Athletic Training Department.
Supervise, train, schedule, mentor, and evaluate Assistant Athletic Trainers, graduate assistants, interns, and student workers.
Develop departmental goals, policies, procedures, and operating standards consistent with current best practices.
Assign sport coverage responsibilities and manage departmental staffing to ensure appropriate medical coverage for all athletic programs.
Develop, administer, and monitor the Athletic Training Department budget.
Recommend and oversee the purchase, maintenance, repair, and replacement of athletic training equipment and medical supplies.
Maintain inventory of medical equipment, treatment modalities, and emergency supplies.
Prepare reports, assessments, and departmental updates for the Director of Athletics and University leadership.
Participate as a member of the Athletics leadership team and attend departmental meetings as assigned.
Athletic Health Care
Direct and oversee the prevention, evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, and return-to-play management of athletic injuries and illnesses.
Provide athletic training services to assigned athletic teams.
Coordinate emergency medical care during practices, competitions, and other athletic activities.
Coordinate pre-participation physical examinations and medical eligibility requirements.
Oversee concussion management, return-to-learn, and return-to-play protocols consistent with current evidence-based medical guidelines.
Coordinate referrals to physicians and healthcare specialists.
Maintain collaborative relationships with team physicians, healthcare providers, hospitals, imaging centers, and rehabilitation specialists.
Ensure complete, accurate, and confidential medical documentation utilizing approved electronic medical record systems and other required documentation.
