Position Summary
Watauga Orthopaedics is in partnership with Providence Academy and we are seeking a dedicated and experienced Athletic Trainer to support the health, wellness, and performance of student-athletes. The Athletic Trainer will provide injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, and emergency care services for middle school and high school athletic programs while promoting a safe and positive athletic environment.
Essential Responsibilities
- Provide on-site athletic training coverage for practices, games, and school-sponsored athletic events
- Evaluate athletic injuries and develop appropriate treatment and rehabilitation plans
- Coordinate care and referrals with physicians, parents, coaches, and other healthcare professionals
- Maintain accurate medical records and injury documentation
- Develop and implement injury prevention and conditioning programs
- Oversee concussion management protocols and return-to-play procedures
- Ensure compliance with state, school, and athletic association regulations
- Maintain athletic training facilities, equipment, and medical supplies
- Educate student-athletes on injury prevention, nutrition, hydration, and wellness
- Assist with emergency action planning and first aid response

Requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Athletic Training or related field
- BOC Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC)
- Current state licensure/certification to practice as an Athletic Trainer
- CPR/AED and First Aid certification required
- Previous experience working with middle school or high school athletes preferred
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as required by athletic schedules
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in an independent or private school setting
- Strength and conditioning background is a plus
