Wichita State University Athletics Employment through Ascension Via Christi Full-Time | 12-Month Position
Position Summary
Ascension Via Christi is seeking a highly motivated and collaborative Assistant Athletic Trainer to provide comprehensive athletic healthcare services for Wichita State University Men's Tennis, Women's Tennis, and Cheer. This full-time, 12-month position is embedded within Wichita State Athletics and plays a vital role in supporting the health, safety, and performance of student-athletes. This position has a salary range of $49,374-$72,209 and will be based on the level of experience.
The Assistant Athletic Trainer will work collaboratively with team physicians, athletic training staff, strength and conditioning personnel, coaches, and other healthcare professionals to deliver exceptional sports medicine services in a Division I collegiate athletics environment.
Primary Responsibilities
Serve as the primary athletic trainer for Men's Tennis, Women's Tennis, and Cheer.
Provide prevention, evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, and emergency care for athletic injuries and illnesses.
Develop and implement individualized injury prevention and rehabilitation programs.
Coordinate medical coverage for practices, competitions, and team travel as assigned.
Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation using electronic medical records.
Communicate effectively with physicians, coaches, student-athletes, and sports medicine staff regarding injury status and return-to-play decisions.
Assist with pre-participation physical examinations and ongoing medical screenings.
Coordinate referrals and follow-up care with physicians and healthcare providers.
Educate student-athletes on injury prevention, nutrition, wellness, and overall health.
Maintain compliance with NCAA, The American Conference, Wichita State University, and Ascension Via Christi policies and procedures.
Participate in departmental meetings, professional development, and other duties as assigned.

This position is employed by Ascension Via Christi and is embedded within the Wichita State University Department of Athletics. The successful candidate will become part of a comprehensive sports medicine team dedicated to providing outstanding healthcare while supporting the academic and athletic success of Wichita State student-athletes.

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training or related field (Master's degree preferred).
Current certification by the Board of Certification (BOC) for Athletic Trainers.
Eligible for Kansas Athletic Trainer licensure.
Current CPR, AED, and First Aid certification.
Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and travel with assigned teams.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in NCAA Division I, collegiate, professional, or high-level athletic settings.
Experience caring for tennis, cheer, or Olympic sport student-athletes.
Experience utilizing electronic medical record systems.
Strong commitment to a collaborative, student-athlete-centered approach to healthcare.
